Korean SuperMarkets

Yes! I'm on a blogging spree! I know that all things should be done in moderation, but my life isn't very moderated right now, so neither is my posting! Just think of this as... my mass procrastination posting for the week and that I won't be able to post again for a few. Well I've been working at this place called H-Marrt for the past few days. I won't say which city. Now all of you guys must have come across those people that do demo items and give out samples right? Costco does this and you can nab a free treat for "tasting" reasons.

Well  Sunny and I was asked to work at an H-Mart ( a Korean store) by a friend who has an uncle that's a manager there. Sunny got sick of it after a day, and doesn't want to have anything to do with it anymore, but my hobby (gaming) is pricey and I really need the money and so I went back and plan to continue working there! My job for the past.. 5 days? Giving out flavored vinegar! They're supposed to be good for the skin, cleaning out toxins in your body, and helps with digestion. Plus, they taste sweet too. But here is the two products I've been promoting so far!

(found these online. Forgot to take pictures of them.. haha)

Here's my work space for  making my beautiful product.. bleh. (I'm positively sick of drinkable vinegar. I drank too much of my own promoting product...)

haha right, the second time I went, when I went back, I had to promote coffee and barley tea as well :)
(p.s. no more DSi pictures. Sunny said the quality was crap so I should use my slightly more better phone/digital camera instead -cry-)

Well, while I was working, I realized two things and I'll share them with you!

One! The man who worked next to me was a Chinese guy who's English wasn't that great, but good enough for his age and the amount of time he spent in America. The product he was promoting was some Chinese type Ramen that was super good and I sampled myself too much. (The workers get bored and start eating and sharing the item they were demoing) Well I noticed, while lolling around waiting for people to walk by, that when ever he helped out customers, he would put his hand together in front of him.It kind of gave off a  creepy sleezy appearance.. right? And the first thing I was reminded of was... the common American stereotype of "chinese are cheap!". They're always depicted rubbing their hands together like so. One example? Won! From Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town. Don't know how many times that guy tried to sell me an apple 5x more expensive, by giving it a really long name. In the end, it was just a normal apple. Here's how Won looks like:

In the end, I came to think, maybe there's a reason that Chinese people are depicted rubbing their hands together. Its a form of .. humbling? The man selling across from me seemed very humble, and he was one of the sweetest man I've met. Goes to show how movies and stereotypes can even warp the most.. simplest of actions.

Two! That Korean Stores had very different things compared to an American Store.

"Well no duh Kira!"

I know I know, but its really different. Culturally and everything. The restaurant inside the stores, the products, the layout, the atomosphere! So I went around during my 30 Min break to take pictures so that you, my readers, can experience how different it really is! Now some of these pictures will be in the Sparkle part so you don't have to closely examine all of them but they'll be here and there and there is a lot! You have been warned!  Now before my montage, I want to talk about a few specific pictures that I found super sparkle worthy!

These three are my first ones I'll talk about. Now when I first saw the blue and white bottle, I thought it was a cool looking bottle and read the description on the back. These basically promote and help enhance whatever the name of the bottle says. Like neuro bliss makes you happy, neuro sleep makes you sleep better, neuro sonic made you think better and neuro gasm? Think about it guys. The picture at the bottom.. think some more! That's right! on the bottom of the bottle, its says "passion in every bottle". What does that mean? It helps you get orgasms better. OMG! RIGHT?!?!

Now, these I thought were super cute! They're basically chopsticks for beginners, or babies. You just stick your fingers in the loops and push together. Eventually, you learn how to use the chopsticks! And who no other than Crayon Shin Chan as the figurine on top. Freaking adorable no?

Now this picture I took from the bakery inside the store. It's freaking adorable too! But I couldn't take that many cause a lady came and shooed me away before I could properly take more at better angles. It still look super cute and cuddly... even though they're cake. There was another cake's picture I got to snag, but it was more delicious looking than cute. Its in the montage!

Now honest truth be told, I want to blabber about all these pictures and comment on ALL of them. But that would take too long, and I had a hard time deciding what to talk about for my last one when this little one popped in front of my eyes. I HAD to talk about it!!!
First time I saw this was when I met up with one of my friends who was promoting the sales of Soju (Korea Sake I guess, comparable to vodka). I thought: "Wow how nice to have a body like that, hair that flows like that, and curves like that, and those thin arms and long legs! OMG! My insecurities are a-rising!"
Then, when I had to promote the Soju a little bit myself, that picture became my best friend since I had to stare at that for a near 3 1/2 hours while no customer came by. ( No one buys alcohol from 12-2). I kept thinking she was oh so skinny and sexy and I felt fat (didn't help that I was wearing a Han Bok) when I realized something! Her hands are FUCKING HUGE!
No seriously! Look at them! Click the damn picture and look at it! They're half the size of her arms... scared the crap out of me. So I stood there, not doing my job and gaping at her big hands for a good 15 mins... I couldn't tell if it was the camera angle, or just simply she had monstrous hands...

Okay, well now I'm done talking about my pictures. I would love to talk about them more, but I think that would only bore you guys like crazy, and make the post too long, so here's the montage of pictures that I took. Some of them were super cute!! Others are random. But I hope you can get the feel of a typical Korean Market now!

Black Friday haul

This Friday was Black Friday.  The one day no one feels guilty for shopping.  So I noticed that this blog has substantially more international readers than American so a quick briefing on what Black Friday is is probably necessary. Skip the next paragraph if you already know.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Kay, so, the day before Black Friday is Thanksgiving; a day for thanks.  Most likely it is also the one day of the year where everyone across America is eating the same meal at around the same time; turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie.    Yep the good stuff.. well... my family decided to be very unorthodox and have a sushi night on Friday.  We basically did nothing on the actual Thanksgiving Day.  So back to Black Friday.  Black Friday is the biggest sale day in America.  EVERYTHING is on sale at their lowest prices.  Sounds great right? Well every shopper that day must suffer a bit to get what they want.  Meaning if every store is having huge sales... of course everyone is going to shop on that day which leads to trampling, pushing, trashing.. just a lot of bad stuff.  You literally have to fight to get that 60% off LCD TV.  You think you can outsmart the system by arriving early? Well think again because that's what everyone else is thinking too. People will make an event out of this day by camping out for a day or two outside of their favorite stores.  Its ridiculous.  The most notorious out of the stores with campers are Walmart, Best Buy, and malls in general.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

I personally don't go Black Friday shopping because the sales are pretty decent on the Saturday and Sunday after, so that's what I did this year. Smart eh?  Oh btw, online shopping is a great alternative as well for the obvious reason of not waiting in line 'n stuff.  Also, everything is marked down and has free shipping.

Well as you guys read, the title is "Black Friday haul" but i actually shopped today which is Sunday.  The deals were still good, but there were a lot less people.

Well I went to the mall with only one mission; to buy my Steve Madden Oxford Taps in cognac whether or not they were on sale, and I did.

They're SHOOO kyoot! I love 'em.
However, they weren't on sale.  I got them for $97.82 with tax

man... idk why my legs look so chubby.. maybe its the angle.

These are the boots I got.
They are by Nordstrom's brand, BP and are called BPRuston - leather in Cognac

They have nice detail AND i got them for super cheap. $92.33 with tax.
The craziest thing is they used to be like 180 bucks! I mean its hard to find nice leather boots under $100.
So I'm very pleased :)

So today was an awesome shopping day.  I spent less than 30 minutes to decide.  They were both just love at first sight. >u<
The only downside is... my occupation is full time student meaning i have no job therefore.. my wallet is considerably lighter.  None the less, I'm super happy!  I normally just wear my 4-5 year old, destroyed chucks.

Strange Luck

Now you guys have probably noticed, but Sunny posts a lot more often than I do. Its due to the fact that I'm taking a little bit more classes, and I spend a lot of time studying for them. Well one day, I came home super depressed cause I had just failed my speech for my Communications class and I had more tests to come that I was no way in hell ready for and were never going to be. Thats when I went to the kitchen to eat my Panda Express dinner that my parents had brought home for that night. I opened two fortune cookies and both of them said this:

It was like stroke of luck (my sister's fortunes were kind of stupid and didn't make sense) and it made me feel a lot better and encouraged that I could actually succeed. It's strange how luck turns up in your life. This made me feel a lot more motivated and I've taped it on my wall in front of my desk so I won't ever give up hope. It's still working its magic now.

Kira Shot!!

Yes the title doesn't make sense... moving on..

One day, Sunny came over and all we ended up doing for hours at a time was make mii's with my 3DS. That's right, Nintendo's creepily cute characters that you can create from the Wii or the 3DS was our Sparkle topic for a good few hours, and you know what? We were damn proud of our creations! In fact, I'm going to show them to you. Once again, I cam whored with my DSi and once again I had a lot of fun with it. HAHA..

Well i'll show you guys the image. The first one here, is when Sunny got really into and created the little cutie with the little pigtails. She wouldn't stop exressing how much she loved her creation. After messing around and making a few more characters, we decided to make a kindergarten with the Miis, and following Sunny's prototype, we made a few more kids to go with her. The tall one was the first Mii I created, and is my main Mii. She's also the kindergarten teacher. Adorable right?

After creating the Kindergarden, we got really into it and made the Black family. They're at the bottom row at the picture down there. As you can see, they're all black from hair to clothes. There's Grandma Black at the left, Papa Black next to her and Sister Black in the middle, Brother Black next to her and Mama Black at the far right. Now if you leave the Miis alone for a while, they start to interact with each other, laugh, doze off or just swing on the balls of their feet. The kindergarden one wasn't that active, but the Black family loved to interact with each other. (The Black family had real names, but I can't remember them) The two people on the top, were added later. The hollow looking one was created by Sunny, and she named him Hungers, cause he looked so skinny tall and hungry. The guy next to him was her attempt on making L from Death Note. I think in the end, I did some things and it became more like L. Sad part was that it took Sunny more than 30 Mins to get her verision, and I swamped it within 5 Mins.. haha. Don't kill me Sunny :)

The girls are the ones that I made from boredom. The one in green was a picture of me Mii-fied. Looked nothing like me in the end. The guys, are what we tried to create as the best "good looking older brother type" Mii... the green is gina's version and the blue is mine. I personally think my blue Mii was more handsome~

Now after Sunny went home, I found this coupon for Subway that gave free subs for the purchase of a 6 inch and a drink. You have no idea how happy I was when I found this. So what did I do? Took a picture of it of course!!! Durrr.

Okay okay, I'm finishing this post. Thanks for listening to my shot of randomness. Oh hey, look at that! My title does make sense after all. Aren't you glad you moved on? LOL. I'll stop being a smart ass now.
